The Dutch Settlers Society of Albany

About Me

I grew up in California.  My family had migrated across the continent before 1900, leaving all trace of ancestry in the past.  They were not interested in where, or who they came from, only where they were going next.  I developed a passion for genealogy and served as registrar for our local DAR chapter.  Unlike my ancestors, I am very interested in who I am and where I came from.

In upstate New York, I descend from Anneke Jans and Rev. Evardus Bogardus through their son William.   His daughter married Adam Brouwer.   My husband has a line that settled in Albany, Barent Pieterse Coeymans who married Gurtrey De Vos of Albany.  My Signor line is from the Palantine and settled in Dutchess Valley.
