I know that my ancestor John C ten Broeck had a house somewhere in Albany that is now a museum? The van Schaick house used by DAR I am not sure of, Claverack is the Eastern part of the van Rensselaer estate, home of Hendrick van Rensselaer, the southern boundry agreed with that (*%?!!) rascal Livingston I think on the Jansen Kill? and then there is the Bowerie of Wesselese ten Broeck and his son (can't remember, papers not in front of me) but finding that would be nice too. I hope to find graveyards with ancestors in them, I think they are out there but not sure where. I wrote down part of my pedigree on a note to a "cousin" this morning if interested.

I wanted to say hello to you, obviously we are related! I have 2 lines of Veeder's so on one line Folque Veeder and wife Jannetje Schermerhorn is a 9th great grandparent, on the other line they are 10th greats. I've been able to trace my Schermerhorn ancestors to my 15th great grandfather Reyer or Ryer Schermerhorn 1541-? How lucky that you carry the surname! I couldn't upload my picture to my profile, my computer went nuts and thought it was a virus attacking it. Anyway love to hear from you and what info you have. I am also a member of 23andme, it is a DNA "community" I guess youd call it?? I've made some connections thru DNA with other Dutch cousins. :)

Is there a way to contact you to find out about an E. F. Schermerhorn who was a great friend of my parents. This was long ago and I'd like to know how he fits into the Schermerhorn genealogy. This was long before you were born, so I'll have to fill you in with the details. He and his mother lived in NYC and owned considerable property along Brunswick Road, Troy. The newsletter is great as it's nice to note all that's going on with the Society. I've been a long time member.
