Greetings to all from The Netherland Club tomorow as we watch a live feed on internet of the Dutch celebrations. I will be participating on Netherlands Channel 2 at 6:50-55 Dutch time as part of the ManBijtHond TV show. My greetings to His majesty King Willem Alexander on behalf of Dutch Americans was filmed via Skype earlier this week. I make the promise to attend King's day April 27th next year and would love to hear from other Society members who might want to return then and be with us as we participate in the festivities next year! By the way - the Dutch peoples' gift is to set up a Facebook Page and "Like" the Gift to Dutch King page which then has the record as most viewed on the planet!
My next project is to contact my coffee plantation Van Patten cousins in Costa Rica. When I was last there--1989, I knew not of these 'cafinated cousins.' At that time you were welcome to stay--as some ex-pay Gringoz had, only hadda bring down $100K! Wow, 'let's make a deal'! Forward looking, "they" say it's good for oldsters like me, when you know you're really--per USArmy days--a "short timer."
This from the Bradt Family News (BFN, from 1988-), new ed. Ms Marie Brott Emerson, mariemerson@msn.com (sic.), post BFReunion July 2012 in Albany, NY, Bradt-Vander Zee-Swartwout, and a few Maybees in the mix (The Jan and Anna Mabee farm, &c.); One sad note, author, &c., HSNY and DSSA member--my Swartwout-desc. cousin, Andrew W. Brink died suddenly at his home (nr Hamilton, ON, of cancer) Andrew W. Brink, @ 79, 25 November 2011 (sic.), his wife Helen reported that the book that he was completing will be published soon, perhaps through www.exlibris.com as were his previous works? As the BBC/Brit.com title goes: "Life is not all 'ha-ha, hee-hee!'" See our Bradt cousins on www.bradtfamily.org 'Heer' James, a 'worthy' link?
HI
need to find an index to the yearbooks, researching Andries Hansen Scherp of Kinderhook, there are lots of errors in earlier publications (Collier, Munsell, Pearson)
ggydonna, you just need to send the proofs that connect to your sisters, once your application is approved if it hasn't been already
I can't seem to find this info on the website and I can't find anyone to email except you guys! So, I have 2 sisters who want to join and I need to know what I need to send -- obviously I've supplied all the proofs, and all that will be different is my sisters -- do I need to send copies of all the docs again, or just of their birth/marriage certs showing we share parents?
TIA, Donna
This is my husbands line. Mine is CARMAN. when researching we found the Van Pattens picure in fromt of the Carman school. What fun.
We hvave attended some of the Bratt reunions in Albany.
Thinking of you all at the Feb mixer. Shoulder injury from too much golf on vacation!
Consider this an invitation to join me as an arm chair traveller as I travel with Dutch naval officers, observing their behind the scenes duties as they sail MV Nieuw Amsterdam transAtlantically this spring.
Please visit http://anchorsaweigh-charlottevanhoorn.blogspot.com and sign on as a Follower for the 3 weeks of the preparation and cruise. Holland America is arranging for unique behind- the- scenes experiences of the life of today's Dutch mariners.
For me, the experience of a transAtlantic voyage with Dutchmen at the helm will be a personal thrill I hope to share with a sense of humor thrown in. Come aboard!
